Nottinghamshire Branch fundraising events
May 2008
On the 10th May 2008 The Rolls Royce Band (Derby) gave a 3-hour concert at the Geological Centre, Keyworth, Notts. Nearly 200 people were entertained with a variety of music that was enjoyed by all. The facilities were excellent with light refreshments available during the interval. Thanks in particular must go to the Vice President Mr Gerald Severn (Main organiser), Geoff Hallam the Assistant Secretary (Administration) Mrs Karen & Steven Ryall (Programmes) and to Director of Music for the Band and the Management of the Centre. The event was such a success that a 'Christmas Concert' is likely to be held at the same location in December.
On the 16th May a Prize Bingo Evening (Final House Prize. £50.00 - which was won by a Grenadier Bob Guest) was held at the West Bridgford Masonic Hall, Welbeck Road, West Bridgford, Notts. It included a steak pie, mash and peas. This was another evening which went like clockwork with the winners being doubly happy for not only raising money for the Fund but also making a little themselves!!
The main arrangements for this evening were done by Mrs Janet Baker and Mrs. Linda Laidlaw assisted by Mr & Mrs. Irene and Colin Shields. Thanks must also go to Alan and his staff of the Hall for an excellent meal.
These events raised just short of £2000. The functions mentioned are a prelude to the main concert of the year, which will be held at Southwell Minster, Southwell, Notts on the 26th August 2008 given by the Regimental Band of the Grenadier Guards.
